Separate Aluminum and PVC from Blister Packs

May 8, 2026
SUNY GROUP

Pharmaceutical blister packs are commonly made from aluminum foil tightly bonded with PVC plastic, creating a durable packaging structure that is difficult to recycle using traditional methods. As pharmaceutical waste continues to increase worldwide, efficient recovery of both aluminum and plastic materials has become an important part of sustainable packaging, recycling, and circular resource management.

How to Separate Aluminum and PVC from Blister Packs
The most practical and scalable solution for separating aluminum and PVC from blister packaging is mechanical recycling technology, which achieves a recovery rate exceeding 98%. Instead of relying on chemical treatment or incineration, this process uses a combination of crushing, grinding, and physical separation to recover valuable materials efficiently. Mechanical recycling not only reduces environmental impact but also supports continuous industrial operation with lower operating costs and stable processing performance.

Separate Recycling Machine Aluminum and PVC from Blister Packs

The recycling process typically starts with shredding or crushing the blister waste into smaller pieces. The material then passes through a grinding system where the aluminum foil and PVC layers are gradually separated from each other. After sufficient liberation, the processed material enters separation systems such as air separators, vibrating screens, electrostatic separators, or density-based sorting equipment. These technologies effectively isolate lightweight PVC particles from conductive aluminum, achieving high separation purity and efficient material recovery.

This recycling line is specifically designed for pharmaceutical blister packs, aluminum foil composite materials, and other aluminum-plastic waste. The system features high separation efficiency, stable operation, and low dust performance, making it suitable for industrial-scale recycling applications. The recovered aluminum can be reused in metal smelting processes, while the separated PVC can be further recycled into plastic products, helping maximize resource recovery and reduce waste generation.
