How to Recycle Beverage Cartons: Complete Separation Process Explained

The Poly-Paper Recycling & Separation Plant, also known as a Tetra Pak Carton Recycling System, is designed to industrially process paper cups, milk cartons, and beverage cartons into reusable raw materials. Beverage cartons typically consist of 75% paper fiber, 20% polyethylene, and 5% aluminum. Through professional separation technology, this composite packaging can be efficiently converted into high-value paper pulp and a plastic–aluminum mixture.

The Tetra Pak Carton Recycling System operates as a fully automated production line integrating feeding, separation, pulping, dewatering, and discharge. Materials first enter a horizontal paper-plastic separator, where mechanical friction, combined with water circulation, detaches cellulose fibers from the plastic and aluminum layers without damaging the fiber quality. Optional pre-shredding improves processing efficiency for compacted or bulk materials.

Poly-Paper Recycling & Separation Plant

After primary separation, the pulp slurry passes through a slag removal stage to eliminate impurities. It is then dewatered and compressed by a filter press to produce high-dryness pulp cakes suitable for secondary manufacturing. The plastic and aluminum fraction is discharged separately for further reuse. Closed-loop water filtration systems ensure stable operation while reducing water consumption.

The recovered paper pulp accounts for the largest proportion of output and contains long-strand fibers that can be recycled multiple times. These fibers are widely used in producing corrugated board, cardboard packaging, tissue products, and molded pulp items such as egg trays and industrial cushioning materials.

The remaining plastic–aluminum composite, often called PolyAl, can be processed into construction panels, roofing sheets, pallets, crates, and outdoor products through shredding and heat-press molding. By industrializing beverage carton recycling, this plant transforms complex packaging waste into stable, marketable materials, supporting both environmental sustainability and resource efficiency.
