When recycling Aluminum Composite Panels (ACP/ACM) through mechanical physical processing, the shredding stage is not an unnecessary add-on nor a way to increase equipment cost. It is an essential step designed to save customers money and protect the entire recycling line. ACP/ACM materials are significantly harder and tougher than other common aluminum-plastic wastes. If these boards are fed directly into a crusher without pre-shredding, the feeding process becomes unstable and the material remains oversized inside the crushing chamber. This leads to jammed chambers, damaged blades, worn liners, and, in severe cases, the complete shutdown of the recycling line. A single-shaft or double-shaft shredder—selected based on required capacity—solves this problem by reducing large, rigid panels into manageable pieces, ensuring smooth, continuous, and safe downstream processing.

After pre-shredding, the materials enter the knife crusher, where they are reduced to about 10–20 mm using a high-strength rotor and wear-resistant blades. This stable size reduction allows the turbo-type water-cooled grinder to work efficiently, finely pulverizing the mixture into uniform powder. Oversized particles are automatically returned through the rotary screen, ensuring consistent granularity for the separation stage. The entire grinding and conveying system runs under sealed, dust-free, negative pressure conditions to ensure clean operation and equipment longevity.

The finely ground material is then processed through a dual electrostatic separation system that separates aluminum and plastic twice for maximum recovery efficiency—achieving up to 99% purity. Two pulse dust collectors capture particles down to 0.3 μm, maintaining a clean working environment. The system is coordinated through an intelligent PLC control cabinet, with fans, conveyors, and auxiliary equipment ensuring stable, automated operation. Optional pre-shredding units can be added for higher-capacity lines or bulkier material sizes.

This integrated process—from controlled pre-shredding to precise electrostatic separation—ensures reliable performance, reduces equipment wear, maximizes material recovery, and delivers a cost-effective recycling solution for high-hardness aluminum composite boards.
